Washington State University The Dynamic Compression Sector

Special Purpose Experiment Enclosure

As a complement to the large dynamic compression facilities, this special purpose enclosure is available to accommodate a broad range of mobile experimental platforms: table-top impact launchers, Kolsky (or split-Hopkinson) bar experiments, detonation experiments using appropriate chambers, and other novel experiments proposed by the DCS user community. Representative examples include: Powder Gun developed by Washington State University, Gas Gun developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory, Kolsky Bar developed by Army Research Office/Johns Hopkins University, and Detonation Chamber developed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
