Globus Data Management

Globus is a software as a service (SaaS) that provides secure and reliable data transfer.  It is developed and operated by The University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory. This service enables DCS to provide remote access to user data securely and privately with APS credentials authentication.

Globus is the DCS preferred method to ensure user data is securely collected during experiments. With a few simple steps, you will have an account setup and available to use at your discretion.

Set up your Globus Account and Establish a Globus Endpoint

Due to Argonne National Laboratories firewall restrictions, we ask that you complete the Globus Account setup and installation of Globus Connection Personal to your personal laptop before the first day of your experiments. This will ensure no delays when collecting your data at the DCS.

Use the Globus Instructions in conjunction with your APS Username and Password to:

  • Create a Globus Account
  • Create a Globus Connect Personal Endpoint
  • Troubleshoot your existing installation of Globus

How long will DCS store user data?

The DCS will securely collect and store user data for the duration of one year through Globus. After said time period, the data will be removed. It is the users responsibility to collect their data during this timeframe.
